My name is Khatia Khuroshvili, and I was born in Georgia. I immigrated to the United States when I was eight years old alongside with my family which consists of my mother, father, and two younger sisters. I am eighteen years old and am currently attending CUNY City College of New York in upper Manhattan as an undergraduate majoring in Biology. The reason I am studying in Biology is because I am fascinated by dentistry and I want to become professional in the field one day. One of the biggest motives was growing up with braces. I was always excited whenever I needed to go visit my dentist for an appointment. I was intrigued by the procedures that they did on my teeth such as molding of the teeth and the x-rays they performed. In my time attending City College, I want to work vigorously to fulfill my goal of becoming a professional dentist and to have a successful career. Being the first ever in my family to attend college in America, I want to set a right example for my siblings and for my family name. Part of this is to prove that I am capable of accomplishing my biggest goal in life but mainly it is to show my parents that it was the right choice to immigrate to the United States. I want to show them that all the sacrifices that they have made for me was the right choice and by getting that degree and career, it will be my way of saying thank you to them. This is what I want to achieve in life and what I want to be known as.
